Harry was born in Queens, New York to Elsie and Harold Barber on November 20, 1945. He went to school at Seaford High School, and married Marcia Brickin on September 23, 1973 in Huntington Village, New York. He graduated from Farmingdale College. Harry worked as a video/audio/broadcast engineer since he was a teenager. One of his earliest recording studios was the Barbershop Sound Recording which he and his friends built. Harry also worked for companies such as Saatchi & Saatchi, Buyer Dynamic, Otari, ABC, and NBC Studios. He enjoyed radio and had his Ham radio license at a young age. Harry worked on radio shows on Long Island such as American Essay and Not Necessarily the News with Roger Rosenblatt.
Harry loved music and played the keyboard, the guitar, and sang vocals. One of his favorite things to do was “jam” with his friends. He also loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson.
Harry is preceded in death by his wife Marcia and his parents Elsie and Harold Barber.
Harry is survived by his daughter Jessica Galuten and son-in-law Alex Galuten, his siblings Elaine Frank, Gail Boos, Kenneth Barber, Lynne DeGregorio, and Ronald Barber, and his grandson Max Galuten.
He was a loving husband, father, sibling, and friend.
The family will not be holding services but have opted for a small ceremony with close friends and family. In lieu of flowers please donate to the American Heart Association (heart.org).
