Andrea was born in Washington D.C. to William D. and Anna T. Ryan on July 12, 1943. She attended St Agnes Catholic School in Arlington VA for her elementary years and Dennis J. O’Connell for High School. She married Angelo Grotticelli over 55 years ago in St. Agnes Catholic Church in Arlington VA. Andrea and Angelo had two children together, Ann-Marie and Vincent before they divorced in the late 1970’s. She worked as a proposal coordinator for numerous defense contractors over the years, and ultimately retired from Northrup Grumman in Tyson’s Corner approximately 15 years ago. Andrea was very interested in civil rights and believed staunchly in exercising your right to vote. While she was raised Catholic and believed faith was important, she was very open and receptive to all forms of peaceful faith and the importance of prayer. She loved ALL animals that she affectionally called “critters”, and most enjoyed spending time in her back yard gardening and feeding all the wildlife.
Andrea is preceded in death by her parents William and Anna Ryan, her brother Bill, husband Aubria Johnson and beloved dog Bella.
Andrea is survived by her daughter Ann-Marie Grotticelli who she nicknamed Ria, her son Vincent Grotticelli, daughter-in-law Tara Grotticelli, her brothers Tim Ryan, Mike Ryan, and Frank Ryan and her sister Liz Krajnik, her grandsons Max and Mickey and her granddaughter Molly as well as numerous nieces and nephews and in-laws she deeply loved.
