William H. Kunz, 89, of Springfield, died at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2005. William was born on June 4, 1916 in Salisbury, the son of William, Jr. and Lucy Pfoffenbach Kunz. He married Elizabeth Kish on October 12, 1940; she preceded him in death on June 17, 2004. William was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran where he received four overseas service bars, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and WWII Victory Medal. He was a lifelong farmer and also retired from Pillsbury Mills where he had been employed for over thirty years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a camp on the Sangamon River for over forty years. He was also preceded in death by his parents and stepmother: Anna Boesdorfer Kunz and five brothers: Edwin, Louis, Arthur, Eugene and LeRoy Kunz. He is survived by two sisters: Florence Galassi and Maxine Richards both of Springfield and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 Noon on Monday, December 19, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, December 19, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Reverend Louis Kunz officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery where military honors will be conducted. Memorial contributions may be made to Charity of Donor's Choice. The family of William H. Kunz is being served by Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield.
