He was born on November 5, 1942, in Quincy, IL, the son of Virgil J. and Margaret L. (Stegeman) Reagan. Thomas married Mary C. Druffel on May 7, 1966, in Quincy.
Thomas graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 1960 and earned his bachelor’s degree in 1964 from Quincy College, where he played baseball. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Thomas went on to work for Franklin Life Insurance for 35 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and Anchor Boat Club. Thomas enjoyed cooking, golf, softball, bowling, fixing things, and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Mary Whittaker.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Mary Reagan of Springfield; daughters, Julie (Larry Larson) Lloyd of Rochester, IL, Jennifer (LeRoy) Eschenbacher of Wonder Lake, IL, and Tracy Tuxhorn of Rochester, IL; grandchildren, Zach Lloyd, Reagan (Zach) Worth, Jessica (Tony) Nika, JD (Klaire) Pletsch, Alex and Robert Eschenbacher, and Maggie and Wrigley Tuxhorn; great-grandchildren, Amilia and Gracelynn Lloyd, Evelyn, Walker, and Charlotte Worth, and Quinn and Robin Nika; sister, Nancy Moyer; brother-in-law, Glenn Whittaker; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Memorial Gathering and Memorial Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL. A Memorial Ceremony will follow at 4:00 p.m.
Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Department of Defense.
