She was born in Springfield, November 13, 1942 the daughter of Lee and Pearl (Nation) Benanti. She married Raymond Cane in Springfield, June 19, 1971 and he survives.
Also surviving are her daughter, Heidi (husband Adam) Lowery of Springfield, her granddaughter, Adalyn Lowery, her brother, Wayne (wife Sandy) Benanti of Springfield, and two nephews; Trent and Travis Benanti.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved granddaughter, Adysen Lowery.
Susan earned her Bachelor of Arts from Carthage College. She started her career teaching at Riverton School district. She taught 3rd grade at Farmingdale Elementary School before retiring after 40 years. She was a member of Historic Grace Lutheran Church and Flower City Chapter No. 152 Order of the Eastern Star. Susan had a passion for flowers and enjoyed her gardens. She loved to play the piano, but her biggest joy was the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Visitation: The Cane family will greet family and friends on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 4-7 pm at the Bisch Funeral Home West 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd. Springfield.
Funeral Service: A funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Tom Krieger at 10:30 am Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Farmington Cemetery, Farmingdale, IL
