Sandy was born on November 25, 1946, in Springfield, the daughter of Joseph and Bernice Bartosik Lauduskie. She married James ‘Jim’ Bloom on July 22, 1967.
She attended Sacred Heart Academy and was a graduate of Lanphier High School. Sandy worked in retail for most of her life. She worked at K-Mart for 22 years, Teachers’ Retirement System, and later retired from Bergners. She was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and was involved with The Cathedral Council of Catholic Women. Sandy was also highly involved with Boy Scouts as she was Troop Leader for Troop #4 in Murphysboro. She was dedicated until her son received his Eagle Scout award. Sandy received her black belt in Taekwondo and loved tending her garden.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Diana Miles Runge.
She is survived by her husband, James “Jim” Bloom; son, Evan M. Bloom of Springfield; brother, Edward Lauduskie of Marietta, GA; sister-in-law, Nancy Lauduskie; nieces, Adriana Schroeder and Michelle Schwartzmann; and nephews, Chris Miles and Ryan Lauduskie.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home - Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral ceremony will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Very Rev. Brian C. Alford and Rev. Msgr. Carl E. Scherrer officiating.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The American Cancer Society or Helping Hands of Springfield, IL.
