Ruth was born on November 26, 1954 in Oak Lawn, Illinois to Vincent and Kathleen (Burgoin) Kuchen. Her family moved several times during her early life, finally settling in Springfield in 1965. Ruth graduated from Glenwood High School in Chatham, IL in 1973.
She worked at various places until she became the office manager for Andrews Engineering. Her employer, Mr. Andrews, gave her the opportunity to spread her wings and she became an invaluable assistant in the enterprise. Ruthie always spoke very fondly of him.
Ruthie met Kelly Whipple, the love of her life. They married in May, 2015 and made a home with their fur babies. Ruthie had a big personality and a laugh that was contagious. She enjoyed playing dominoes, being with family, connecting via “tele-Ruthie” with family and friends. She enjoyed trips with Kelly, Dan and Ellen to Gulf Shores, AL. She loved fiercely and things were never dull when she was around.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Kelly Whipple; siblings Cathie (Gerry) Larmore, Danny (Ellen Elam) Kuchen, David Kuchen, Noreen (Rod) Hopkins, and Peggy Perkins; nieces and nephews, Kelly Lynch, Tina Ward, Darcy Marshall, Andrew and Ross Hopkins, Rico and Emilio Perkins; many grand nephews and nieces.
The family would like to give a special thanks to their neighbor’s, Don and Patty Dehart and Mark and Rachel Trower who were there for Ruthie many times when Kelly could not be there.
