Rozanne "Rose" Kelly Knappmeyer, 56, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2016 at St. John's Hospice. Rose was born on August 3, 1960 in Springfield, the daughter of Donald and Mary McCann Kelly. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Don Kelly and John Kelly. Rose is survived by her best friend and husband of over 39 years, Samuel "Sam" Knappmeyer. They married on June 5, 1977 in Springfield. She is also survived by two daughters: Sammie (Brent) Berberet and Kelly Knappmeyer; three beloved grandchildren: Aidan and Riley Berberet and Amelia Knappmeyer, all of Springfield; three sisters: Cheryl Lopez of Springfield, Lori (Mike) Schneider of Alhambra and Becky (Jerry) Schneider of Mechanicsburg; two brothers: Steve (Alice) Kelly of Springfield and Tim (Terri) Kelly of Petersburg; her Knappmeyer family; an uncle; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Rose's family was her pride and joy. She loved spending time with them and there was nothing she enjoyed more than family trips to Walt Disney World. Her three grandchildren were the lights of her life. She adored them and they adored her in return. She was their Mimi and their best friend. Rose was employed by Hospital Sisters Health System as a Benefits Specialist at the Colleague Service Center for the past three years. She was previously employed by St. John's Hospital for almost 30 years. Her colleagues were not only her co-workers, but they were her closest friends. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. The gathering will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
