Robert "Bob" Saylor

Robert "Bob" Saylor, 90, of New Berlin, died at 7:07 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Capitol Care. Bob was born December 2, 1923 in Arenzville, the son of Eugene O. and Hulda Jeanette Dorthea Roegge Saylor. He married Ruth Krieg on March 23, 1947 in Pleasant Plains. Bob attended Arenzville High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII and the Korean War. He retired in 1989 from U and L Grain Company after 38 years. Bob was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church where he had served as a head usher for many years. He also helped mow St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant daughters and four brothers. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Saylor of New Berlin; two sons, Mike (wife, Beverly) Saylor of Virginia and Richard (wife, Carla) Saylor of Jewett; one daughter, Edith (husband, Galen) Clary of New Berlin; five grandchildren, Michael Sean Saylor, Christopher Patrick Saylor, Robert Stanley Saylor, Steven Joseph Saylor, and Pamela Gaile Saylor; three great-grandchildren, Delaney Sue Saylor, Griffin Colton Jackson Saylor, Ivy Elizabeth Kay Ayers. Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the funeral ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 304 E. Gibson St., New Berlin, with Rev. Robert Barth officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: St. John's Lutheran Church, 304 E.
