He was born in Indianapolis, IN Dec. 19, 1943 the son of Albert and Anna Lucille (Kinnaman) Brown. He married Linda in Springfield, Aug.15,1998 and she survives.
He is also survived by his three sons; Steven, of Phoenix, AZ, Michael (Melissa), of Springfield, IL, and David (Katie) Brown of Spencer, IA, seven grandchildren: Justin (Fiancée Amber Devers) Brown, Isaiah, Noah, and Josie Brown, Emma, Ben, and Vanessa Cooper, and his brother, Jerry Brown of California.
His parents and a sister, Mary Kay Barron preceded him in death.
Bob owned and operated the Smith-Brown Insurance Co. in Virden since 1979. He honorably served in the United States Air Force from Aug 1965-Aug. 1969, He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church LCMS, the American Legion, VFW Post 1104 in Carlinville, the Virden Chamber of Commerce. Bob was an avid golfer. Through his professional career, he was a member and served in various capacities of several insurance related associations including the Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois.
Visitation and Service: The family will greet friends at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church 2645 Old Jacksonville Rd., Springfield on Sat. Dec. 20, 2014 from 9:30 am until time of services there at 11:00 am. Rev. Joshua T. Traxel and Rev. Dr. Wayne P. Hoffman will officiate.
Graveside Service: 10 am Monday, Dec. 22, 2014 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, near Riverton. Rev. Dr. Wayne P. Hoffman officiating.
Memorials: Those who wish may direct memorial contributions to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
