Nick J. Frasco, 94, of Springfield, died at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at St. John's Hospice. Nick was born June 22, 1921 in Acosta, PA, the son of Ralph and Fay Bartolo Frasco. He married Janice Beth Cox in Springfield; she preceded him in death on September 16, 1969. He later married Norma Jean Matrisch and she also preceded him in death. Nick graduated from Feitshans High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII in the South Pacific Campaign from 1942 to 1946. He was employed with First Electric Motor Shop for 16 years, and then as an Elevator Mechanic for Long Elevator for 24 years, until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Elevator Workers #51 and the International Union of Elevator Constructors #55. Nick was also a lifelong bowler. He was a member and ran the Bowling 700 Club for 22 years and bowled for 49 years in the U.S. Bowling Congress National Tournament. He served as President for the ABC Greater Springfield Bowling Association in 1968 and as Assistant Secretary for many years. In 1986, he was inducted into their Hall of Fame. He also enjoyed traveling, golfing, collecting coins, spending time with his family, going to the casinos, and boating. He was also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dora Scott; and step-daughter, Beverly Piper. He is survived by two sons, Daniel R. (wife, Jenny) Frasco of Sydney, Australia, and Gary N. (wife, Lisa Rakey) Frasco, of Springfield; daughter, Debra A. (husband, Rich) Vaninger of Springfield; step-children, Nancy (husband, Ernie) German, Bill Matrisch, and Steve (wife, Connie) Matrisch; grandchildren, Benjamin Frasco, Janis Frasco, Rick (wife, Sarah) Vaninger, Sam Vaninger, Jace Vaninger, Mitchel Vaninger, Nolan Frasco, and Grace Frasco; great-granddaughter, Hayden Anne Vaninger; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Bob Frasco of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 3:00 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 7, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
