Mary Lou Moore, 92, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2014, at St. John’s Hospital. Mary Lou was born on August 13, 1922 in Lincoln, IL, the daughter of the late Samuel S. and Nora Ethel (Wilson) Wilson Sr. Mary Lou attended Cincinnati Bible Seminary for 2 years, in that time she earned her MRS. degree to her loving husband Rev. Oliver B. Moore. He preceded her in death on July 9, 1981.
Throughout her years Mary Lou owned and operated Mary Lou’s Music Studio, she worked for P.H. Broughton Co., Christian Elementary School, Illinois Realtor’s Association, and Project Life. As an avid lover of music Mary Lou taught music and piano for many years and was listed in Who’s Who in American Music. Mary Lou belonged to South Side Christian Church in Springfield. As a devoted Christian Mary Lou continuously served the Lord throughout her life, modeling herself after Proverbs 31, to be the best mother, wife, and person she could be. She was always willing to help anyone however she could and loved to brighten anybody’s day.
Mary Lou is survived by her children: Phillip (Julie) Moore of Hoffman Estates, IL, Louanne Martin of Scott AFB, IL, Beth (Tom) Formea, of Chatham, IL, Mary Alice (Terry) Stouffe of Springfield, and Margaret (Mark) Ingmire of Savannah, GA, her sister Juanita Hendrickson, grandchildren: Chris Webster, Jenny Cooper, Daniel (Jamie) Martin, Sarah (Joe) Formea Rickaby, Jamie (Jessica) Formea, Brandon Moore, Benjamin (Caryn) Martin, Alexis Stouffe, Collin Ingmire, Hillarie Martin, Olivia Ingmire, and Carson Stouffe, her great grandchildren: Anthony Cooper, Jacob Rickaby, Kennedy Martin, and Leanna Rickaby.
Also preceding her in death is her brothers: Samuel Wilson Jr., Lowell Wilson, and Richard Paul Wilson, a granddaughter Angela Renee Formea, son-in-law Ken Martin, and brother-in-law, Milton Hendrickson.
A celebration of life by Pastor Dave Harmon will be on Thursday, December 11, 2014, at 6:30p.m. at Lakeside Christian Church 225 Toronto Rd. Springfield, IL 62711. The family will receive guests from 3:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. just before the service at the church. A private graveside service will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lewis Memorial Christian Village.
