Mary Ella Matteson, 91, of Springfield, passed away on September 29, 2018 at her residence. She was born on February 11, 1927 in Tower Hill, Illinois to Newell Harry and Agatha Snow Carr. Mary married Robert Matteson in Decatur, Illinois on July 27, 1946 and he survives.
Mrs. Matteson is also survived by her children: Gayle A. Matteson and Robert Jeffery (Janice) Matteson, six grandchildren, one sister Karen McGuire as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by one son Michael A. Matteson and two sisters Shirley DeJanes and Beverly Jones.
Mary enjoyed playing bridge, bowling and volunteering at St. John’s Hospital. She was a great homemaker, household CEO, and one of the best cooks in the Midwest. She was keenly interested in her children and grandchildren and making their world a better place.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday October 13, 2018 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road. The family will meet friends from 1:00pm until the time of service Saturday at Bisch West.
