Marty Immel

Marty Immel, 99, of Springfield, passed away on September 2, 2024 at Heritage Health and Rehab in Pana. She was born and raised Columbus Ohio (German village) on January 19, 1925 to Otto J. Hilgert and Pauline A.Wittenmeier Hilgert. Marty married Robert (Bob) Immel on June 10, 1950 at St.Mary's Church in Columbus, OH. And they were married for over 71 years.

Marty is survived by her three children: Steven M. “Steve” (wife Pamela) Immel of Carmel, IN., Janet “Jan” Daniels of Crystal Lake IL., and Robert C.”Bob” Springfield IL. three grandchildren: Megan Daniels of Chicago, Mackenzie Daniels of Chicago and Laura (Adam) Gadberry of Indianapolis, IN., and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob in 2022, her parents, brother Richard Hilgert, sister Mary Ann, and one grandson Brian Michael Immel.

Marty was a graduate of South High School in Columbus Ohio in 1943. She moved to Springfield Illinois in July 1969 just in time to watch the moon landing. She was a longtime parishioner of Christ the King Parish, a member of the Springfield Symphony guild, member and past President of St. John’s Hospital Samaritans and she was a realtor with Julie Davis Realty. Marty was an avid reader who loved her books and she enjoyed being on the deck taking care of all her plants and flowers.

A prayer service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday October 12, 2024 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road. The family will greet friends from 10:00am until the time of service Saturday at Bisch West. A private Interment will take place at Camp Butler National Cemetery at a later date.
