She was born to Martin and Dorthea Orbeck Rotnem on May 4, 1923 in Elk Mound, WI., one of seven children.
She married Lee A. Iverson on October 10, 1945. He preceded her in death in 2012 after 67 years of marriage. She is also preceded in death by four brothers (Burt, Eugene, Rolf and James) and two sisters (Dorothy and Vivian). She is survived by two sons, Lee Alan and Steve (Susan) and two beloved grandchildren , Bill and Ann Iverson.
She attended Elk Mound High School, and later Stout State University, graduating in 1945. She received her Masters degree from Sangamon State University in 1973.
Marge taught school in Wisconsin and at the Iowa School for the Blind before coming to Illinois, where she was a special reading teacher in Springfield District 186. She retired after 30 years of teaching.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and IBT Sunday School class, Sons of Norway Knitting Group, Sangamon Valley Porcelain Artists Guild, Illinois Retired Teachers Association and Springfield Retired Teachers.
Marge was a member of several bridge clubs, as well as an avid crafter, knitter and china painter.
She enjoyed genealogy and went to Norway four times to visit relatives. She also travelled extensively in South America when her son Lee was a missionary there.
Most of all, Marge enjoyed just being with her family and grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West. Visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 2941 S. Koke Mill Road on Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am with funeral services immediately following. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield, immediately after the funeral.
