She was born on June 27, 1951 in Springfield, the daughter of Henry John and Lillie Ellen (Wilson) Piper. She married Robert L. Charles on May 20, 1972 in Springfield and he survives.
Prior to her retirement, Linda had worked as an office manager for the Illinois State Medical Society. Before moving to Texas, she had been a member of South Side Christian Church in Springfield. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and the RV lifestyle for many years. She loved spending time with her family.
Besides her husband Robert, she is survived by her 4 children, Kelley Travis of Springfield, Rebecca (Brian) Koen of New Berlin, Leigh Anne (Rocky) Yocum of Athens, and Ronda Brown of Cantrall; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; her father Henry Piper; and 2 brothers John Piper of Dallas, TX and Robert (Cleide) Piper of Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her mother Lillie Piper and her son-in-law Jonathan Brown.
Local arrangements are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, Springfield. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023 from 5:30 pm until 7 pm at South Side Christian Church, 2600 S. MacArthur Blvd, Springfield, IL with a brief memorial service immediately following at 7 pm, officiated by John Miller.
