Linda was born on December 1, 1953, in Springfield, the daughter of Harold Eugene and Betty Lou Barfield.
She married Vernon “Michael” Brewer on June 11, 1972, in Ashland, IL.
Linda was a graduate of Pleasant Plains High School. In her early years, she was an insurance agent at Farmers Insurance in Springfield, she worked for SPARC in Louisiana, and worked at the YMCA in Birmingham. Her longest job was with the Springfield Mass Transit District as a secretary. Linda enjoyed shopping and loved all animals, but above all, loved raising her kids.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon “Michael” Brewer of Springfield; one son, Christopher “Chris” (Sarah) Brewer of Chatham; one daughter, Tiffany Roe of Springfield; one grandchild, Betty Brewer of Chatham; one sister, Alice (Dan) Kern of Pleasant Plains; six nephews; several cousins; and three dogs, Hairy, Wicket, and Ted E.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 9:00 until 9:45 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield.
Memorial Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield with Nathaniel Kern officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
