Leslie E. Sims

Leslie E. Sims, 82, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday February 16, 2014 At Walker Nursing Home in Virginia, IL. He was born on July 24, 1931 in Brookport, IL to Harry and Bessie Johnson Sims. In 1959 he married Shirley Snodgrass and she survives.

Mr. Sims is also survived by his brother John Luke (Kathleen) Sims of Herrin, IL and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters: Beatrice DuRall, Reginald Traversy, Pauline Danaher, and Modell Sims.

Leslie retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 after forty six years with the State of Illinois, Department of Military Affairs – National Guard. He was an avid stamp collector and was a member of Faith Bible Church.

A funeral service, conducted by Dr. Curt Daniel, will be held at 11:00 am on Friday February 21, 2014 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road, with burial to follow at Old Salem Cemetery where military honors will be conducted. The family will meet friends from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm on Thursday at Bisch West.
