He was born on February 8, 1931, in Riverton, the son of Leslie and Dorothy (Marasik) Hendricks. Leslie married Jean M. Bukanus on February 4, 1950. She preceded him in death, on June 15, 1986. Leslie later married Dorothy A. Baldin on September 17, 1988.
Leslie graduated from high school in Springfield with the class of 1948. He went on to work as a baker for Butternut Bakery for over 30 years, and later worked in maintenance for the State of Illinois for 10 years. Leslie was a member of Riverton United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, and creating and painting woodworking models. Leslie was a very loving and kind man who was devoted to his family. He was a hard worker who loved to be busy.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, Gerald Wayne Hendricks; and step-son, Jeffrey Bowden.
Leslie is survived by his wife, Dorothy A. Hendricks of Springfield; daughters, Judith Brigess and Patricia Beck, both of Sherman; son, Dennis (Becky) Hendricks of Springfield; step-daughter, Cindy (Paul) Young of Highland; step-son, Steve (Susan) Bowden of Rochester; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Ceremony and Visitation: Funeral will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield, followed by the Visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center, following the services.
Inurnment will take place at Oak Ridge Cemetery, at a later date.
