He was born on October 15, 1955 in Springfield, the son of the late James Dobson and Juanita (Courtwright) Lockhart He married Joyce Roberts on June 11, 1972 in Springfield and she survives.
Larry served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He had worked as a police officer, a park district police officer, and most recently had worked at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans, the American Legion Post #32 in Springfield, and the DAV Hall Haglar Chapter.
Besides his wife Joyce, he is survived by his mother Juanita Lockhart of Springfield; his brother Gary Dobson of Mt. Pleasant, SC; his sister-in-law Linda Dobson of New Berlin, IL; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, Springfield. A graveside memorial service will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 11 am at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Marine Corps and the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County, with the Patriot Guard present. Cremation rites were accorded.
