He was born in Bay City, MI, July 25, 1944 the son of Arthur and Sylvia (Almond) Boehm. He was a graduate of Central Michigan University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree.
Larry married Dorothy A. “Dee” Babcock in Michigan, July 31, 1965 and she preceded him in death, March 14th 2020. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his best canine friend, Zoey.
Larry served Standard Mutual Insurance Co in Springfield for over 50 years. His career began with an internship in 1967. He retired in 2017. Later in his life, he enjoyed being outdoors and tending to his yard. Larry had a quiet strength about him, perhaps that's why he enjoyed Clint Eastwood movies so much. He enjoyed gardening at his home and never met an episode of MASH he didn’t like
Larry was a faithful and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church LCMS where he served in various capacities and on the Board of Directors. He was also a past Sunday School Superintendent. Larry served on the Springfield Lutheran High School Board of Directors as well.
He is survived by his children; Kevin Boehm of Chicago, IL, and Melissa “Missy” (husband Ray) Grubb of Springfield. There are five grandchildren: Sofia, Lola and Luca Boehm, and Tori (husband Andrew) Hagan and Ali Grubb, and three great grandchildren; Benjamin, Joanna and Jillian.
The Boehm family will greet family and friends at Trinity Lutheran Church, 220 S. 2nd St. Springfield, IL on Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 9:30 am until the time of a funeral service there at 10:30 am. Rev. Jonathan Sharp will officiate. Burial will follow in Old Salem Cemetery, west of Springfield.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may direct memorial contributions to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Springfield Lutheran High School Building Fund.
