Kenneth was born August 18, 1932, in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Lyle T. and Lois I. Childress Manning. He married Roxy Jane Anderson on October 2, 1952, in Petersburg, IL.
Kenneth graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1951 and attended Brown’s Business School in Springfield. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956, where he was stationed in Saudi Arabia during the Korean War. He was employed with Marine Bank for twenty-five years, most recently as assistant vice president. He was a member of Central Illinois Credit Association from 1982 to 1983 as president, Consumer Credit Association for 30 years and served as president in 1988. Kenneth was also a member of the Marine Bank bowling team for 25 years, president of Glen Aire Association from 1999 to 2009 and a lifetime member, and the Elks Lodge 158. He was a previous member of the Ski and Boat Club for 20 years where he dominated as a pitcher in fast pitch softball. He was very active with his sons’ and grandchildren’s sporting events, including coaching his sons’ baseball teams. Kenneth was an avid St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bulls, and Fighting Illini fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lane Manning.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Roxy Manning of Springfield; sons, Todd (Amaila) Manning of Canton, IL and Trace (Patti) Manning of Rochester; daughter, Michelle (Dick) Reid of Naperville; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Ronald (Pat) Manning of Dover, NH and Larry Manning of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Private family graveside will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
