Kenneth Wayne Curry Sr., 85, of Dawson, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away at 6:15 pm on Monday June 5, 2017 at the Bridge Care Suites. He was born on May 17, 1932 in Springfield to Roy G. and Ena Alpheda Cook Curry. On June 9, 1956 he was joined in marriage to Patricia Ann Barnes at the Fifth Presbyterian Church in Springfield and they celebrated sixty one years together.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: Bernard, Gaylord and Robert Curry and two sisters: Olive Eileen Kitchen and Velma Fletcher.
Mr. Curry was a graduate of Tri City High School before serving as a Petty Officer 3rd Class in the US Navy during the Korean War. He worked as a Boilermaker until his retirement in 1992.
Kenneth is survived by one son Kenneth W. (Kathy) Curry II of Virginia Beach, VA., five daughters: Dr. Kemi W. (Robin) Price of Phelan, CA., Linda A. (Doug) Mazza of Diggs, VA., Dr. Patricia A. (Dave) Hickman of Alexandria, VA., Sharon L. (Mike) Curry-Wickham of Rogers, AR., and Mary Kathleen (Frank) Wombwell of Greenville, DE., two sisters: Donna (Bill) Swanson of Parker, CO., and Cheryl (John) Singley of St. Peters, MO., twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Cremation rites were accorded and an inurnment followed at Camp Butler National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Dawson Fire Department or to the Dawson Community Club and please visit the online “Life Remembered Story” at www.bischandsonfuneralhome.com.
