Kathleen M. Harms

Kathleen M. (Moffett) Harms was born on the day of love, Valentines Day, 1957 to Michael E. and Sylvanne A. (Viele) Moffett at St. Johns Hospital. Who would have guessed that her favorite color would be red or any shade thereof? She spent 60 loving years on this Earth, 37 of which she spent working in IT for St. Johns Hospital and the HSHS organization. She married Carl David "Dave" Harms on September 21, 1991, giving him and his children 25+ years of her love and passing on her great ability to love family and friends to them. Kathy quietly lost her long battle with lung cancer, peacefully passing at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at HSHS St. Johns Hospital, the same facility she was born in and worked in for so many years. Kathy graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1975 and very proudly graduated from Lincoln Land Community College in 1989 after working full time and going to school. She was a member of the Lake Press Club. Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Michael (Mick) Moffett and sister, Kim (Moffett) Ingram. Kathy is survived by her mother, Sylvanne, who taught her how to love; her husband, Dave; beloved children, Adam (Laura) Harms of The Woodlands, TX and Carrie Carroll (Michael Lee) of Springfield; brother, Michael (Debbie) Moffett of Springfield; two sisters, Michele (Ward) Cantrall of Athens and Kelly (Mark) DeVaney of Sherman; her very special grandchildren, Nathaniel and Taylor Harms; her many loved nieces and nephews; and her many very special grandnieces, grandnephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, whom she loved very much. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:45 a.m. on Monday, July 31, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Memorial Ceremony: 12:00 p.m. on Monday, July 31, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Vaughn Beeman officiating.
