Jack, the son of V. Larry and B. Nadeen Weatherford, was born on November 4, 1944, at Scott Air Force Base. A life-long resident of Springfield, he graduated from Springfield High School, class of 1962, and Parsons College. Jack married his beloved wife, Barbara Schultz Corea, on June 23, 2001, and she survives.
Jack retired from the State of Illinois in 2010. He gave generously to the community he loved. He was a member of the board of the Sangamon/Menard County Crimestoppers. He served on the LPGA State Farm Classic Board and was awarded Volunteer of the Year in 2010. Jack gave countless hours as a volunteer for the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce, including serving as a member of the Board, and in 2001, he received the President’s Award. His warmth and fun-loving nature blessed him with a wide circle of friends throughout the Springfield community.
Jack was a devoted father to Jill (Jeff) Choate of Marion, IL, John (Dawn) Weatherford and Jeff (Beth) Weatherford, both of Springfield; and step-children, John (Leah) Corea of Columbus, OH, and Erin (Adam) Sours of Lewistown, IL. He was a loving grandpa to grandchildren, Lakyn and Zachary Winner, and Kayla, Paige, Ashlyn, and Kyle Weatherford; great-grandson, Noah Tabor; and step-grandchildren, Sabra, Tes, Regan, Evan, Andrew, Taylor Corea, and Karia, Mylie, Carter, and Adalee Sours.
Barb would like to express her gratitude to the owners and staff at D’Arcy’s Pint, for their friendship and support over the years. It was more than a bar – it was their “second home”.
