Jim was born on March 25, 1945, in Burbank, CA, to Doris and Raymond Paine. He married Marion Meyer on October 8, 1971, in Bangkok, Thailand.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
He served in the United States Air Force as a pilot from 1968-1988. While serving in Vietnam he received the Silver Star in November of 1970, the Distinguished Flying Cross in December of 1970, the Air Medal, and many other commendations. Jim’s last assignment was as an Air Force Advisor to the Air National Guard in Springfield, IL. After retiring from the Air Force, Jim flew for Airborne Express out of Wilmington, OH, and retired in 2005. He also spent many years as a hunting guide in Illinois.
Jim is survived by his wife, Marion (Micki) Paine of 50 years; one son, James C. (Patty Sonley) Paine, Jr.; daughter, Kimberly (husband, Scott) Sentonaris; two granddaughters, Madison and Brooklyn; brother, Kenneth (wife, Susan) Paine; four nephews, Kenneth, Kevin, and Brian Paine, and Kenneth Murray; and brother-in-law, Al Meyer.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Arrangements are being made for Jim to be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery.
