Jack was born January 7, 1924 in Springfield, the son of Clifford and Marion Elizabeth Denton Beck.
Jack graduated from Lanphier High School in 1942. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII under General Patton in the 106th Division, where he was awarded the Victory Medal, ribbon with 3 Bronze Battle stars, 4 overseas bars, and the Good Conduct Medal. Jack served an apprenticeship for printing and was later employed as a Union Printer for Phillips Brothers for 31 years. He later retired from the Illinois Department of Revenue after 11 years as a Security Guard. Jack was a member of the Heritage Free Will Baptist Church and the American Legion Post #32. Jack enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Lawrence Wayne Beck.
He is survived by his daughter, Laura Lynn (husband, Louie) Redpath of Springfield; three grandchildren, Amber (husband, Clifford) Conrad of Springfield, Sarah Megan Beck of LA, and Louis C. Redpath IV of Port St. Lucie, FL; two great-grandchildren, Carson C. and Austin W. Conrad; brother, Richard (wife, Sandy) Skrele of Chatham; one niece; and one nephew.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
