She was born on June 25, 1923, in Morris, IL, the daughter of Harry and Lydia (Britt) Miller. Harriet married Darwin T. Osmonson on July 22, 1943, in St. Louis, MO. He preceded her in death on October 29, 1991.
Harriet graduated from Morris High School, after which she went on to work at the Illinois Bell Telephone Company and the Federal Paper Board Company in Morris. Years later in Springfield, she worked as a receptionist at Friendly Chevrolet on Stevenson Drive. Harriet was an active member of the former Woodside United Methodist Church in Lakeside, a member of the church choir, and a past president of the United Methodist Women's Group at the church. She was a long-time member of both the Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary. She also served as a Queen Bee within a local Springfield chapter of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, visiting with her family and friends, and traveling the world. Harriet was classy, full of life, social, and very outgoing and giving.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Gary D. Osmonson; and one sister, Gladys Schwalbach.
Harriet is survived by her son, Lee Osmonson (Judy) of Arvada, CO; grandchildren, Graham and Greg Osmonson of Springfield and Ryan Osmonson and Sarah Zielinski (Josh) of Colorado; five great-grandchildren; and nephew, Jim Schwalbach of Springfield.
Private services will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024, with burial following at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
