Huachuca City, AZ-George A. Hartman Jr, 51, of Huachuca City, AZ formerly of Springfield, IL, passed away at 12:37 pm Thursday, September 9, 2021 in the emergency room of the Sierra Vista Hospital in Sierra Vista, AZ. after enduring 10 years of severe pain and finally succumbing to complications of COVID.
George was born in Chattanooga, TN, February 11, 1970 the son of George A. and Linda (Sparks) Hartman Sr. He was a 1988 graduate of Lanphier High School. He married Jennifer Lynn Fernandes in Springfield, February 14, 1993.
He is survived by his wife and children: Audrey Hartman of Seattle, WA, George A. (fiancé Sherry Boggs) Hartman III of Piqua, OH, and David Hartman of Huachuca, City, AZ, his parents: George A. and Linda Hartman Sr., his siblings: Bob (wife Heather), Matthew (wife Nico), Dan (wife Michelle), Amanda (husband Joe) Gallina, and Bonnee Hartman, all of the greater Springfield area. He has eighteen nieces and nephews, several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. George was preceded in death by his four grandparents and his beloved brother David Hartman.
George was a licensed pest control technician for many years, a member of the Huachuca City volunteer fire department, and formerly served as chief, and was an accomplished barbeque pitmaster. He was a Cub Scout and Royal Ambassador at church, in his younger years, as well as a proud high school letterman football player for the Lanphier Lions. He was a member of the Stephen A. Douglas chapter, order of DeMolay and was a past Master Counselor. He loved animals, coaching his boys' youth baseball teams, the St. Louis Cardinals, and was a devoted fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Visitation: The Hartman family will greet family and friends on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Bisch Funeral Home West. 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd. Springfield from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm. CDC and IDPH guidelines will be followed requiring face coverings and social distancing.
Funeral Ceremony: A funeral ceremony will be held at 10:30 am Monday, September 27, 2021 at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. CDC and IDPH guidelines will be followed requiring face coverings and social distancing.
