She was born in Springfield, March 8, 1931 the daughter of Aaron J. and Erma F. (Reed) Pelham. She married Kenneth R. Miller in Springfield, Nov. 3, 1950, at West Side Christian Church. Preceding her in death were her parents and an older brother, David Pelham.
Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Kenneth; her children: David (Hilda) Miller, Stephen Miller, and Lisa (Alan) Stickel; two grandchildren: Matthew and Brooke Stickel, all of Springfield; her brother, Lee Pelham of Bradenton, FL; two sisters, Ruth Ann Ballinger of Cheyenne, WY and Lois (Bob) Wolters of Normal, IL. There are several nieces, nephews and a cousin.
Gene was an active and devoted member of West Side Christian Church. She was a member of the TNT Sunday School Class and Charlie’s Angels. She was an avid reader, enjoyed working crossword puzzles, and playing games. Gene found great joy in volunteering alongside her husband at Lewis Memorial Christian Village and at Vacation Bible School at West Side.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, Dec. 15th, 2018 in Centennial Hall at West Side Christian Church at 11:00 am. Pastors Gary Winkleman and Cindy Lash will officiate. Private inurnment will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
