She was born Jan. 24, 1926 in Springfield, the daughter of Ervin M. and Zenia R. Penny Newlin. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1944. Florence married James Leveque in Springfield, Jan. 27, 1946 and he preceded her in death Feb. 24, 1972. She was also preceded in death by three sons; Dale Charles, Paul Alan, and James E. Leveque.
She is survived by her son Bruce R. Leveque of Euless, TX, 3 daughter-in-laws; Marilyn Leveque of Springfield, Jan Leveque of Jacksonville, and Judy Leveque of Melissa, TX, also 4 grandchildren; Christopher Leveque of Bensalem, PA, Andrew (Brittany) Leveque of St. Louis, MO, Shelley (Mat) Ryan of Taylorville, IL, and Stephanie McCarthy of Glasford, IL. 2 step grandchildren; Erick (Julie) Mueller of Peoria, IL, and Douglas (Lorie) Mueller of Maroa, IL. There are several great grandchildren.
Florence worked at the Illinois Education Association as a membership secretary for 23 years, retiring in 1991. She volunteered for 15 years at Sangamon Auditorium and the Senior Center “Daily Bread” program for 10 years.
She truly enjoyed her friends at Homestead, where she lived for several years. Florence was a kind, loving woman and will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd Springfield, where a visitation will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 9 am with her funeral service following at 10 am. Jere Scott will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
