She was born on March 13, 1920 in Springfield, the daughter of the late Gordon and Cleta (Abbott) Sallee. She married Herman Hahn on March 19, 1943 at First Christian Church in Springfield and he preceded her in death on August 4, 2004.
Eileen worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Co. for 10 years. She was a member of First Christian Church for 87 years, a Sunday School Teacher, Past-President of CWF (Christian Women’s Fellowship), Jr. Women’s Club, a 50 year member of King’s Daughters, a life member of Ceramics and Crafts Club, Past Worthy Advisor of Rainbow Girls, a 50 year member of Flower City Chapter of Order of Eastern Star, Past-President of Delta Epsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and a Girl Scout Leader for 10 years.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Janice (husband Jack) Blazis of Springfield, and Barbara (husband Bob) Roose of Omaha, NE; 6 grandchildren, Julie Palmer, Jeff Blazis, Chad Kreitler, April (husband Jason) Matsuzaki, Kristian Kreitler, and Tim Kreitler; 8 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson John Blazis, 2 sisters, June Sallee and C. Frances Stone, and a brother Thomas G. Sallee.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield, where visitation will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2012 from 10 am until time of the funeral service at 11 am. The funeral service will also be at the funeral home, with Rev. Rick Irwin officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield.
Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, Springfield or to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children in St. Louis, MO.
