Dorothy K. Middleton, 97, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday November 14, 2012 at the Regency Nursing Home. She was born on December 24, 1914 in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Andom and Cora Akins Drost. She married Charles T. Middleton on January 26, 1946 and he preceded her in death on April 9, 2010.
She is survived by her daughter Bonnie (James) Autowski of Springfield, IL., her son James (wife Julie) Gibbons of Danville, IL., three grandchildren: Brenda (Clint) Westbrook of South Elgin, IL., Joe (Debbie) Gibbons of Camden, IN., and Denise Finley of Danville, IL., seven great grandchildren: Megan (Josh) Myles of Burlington, IL., Kristell Westbrook of South Elgin, IL., Michael and Jennifer Gibbons of Camden, IN., Patrick and David Finley of Danville, IL., and Mandy (Richie) Stevens of Hoopston, IL., five great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Carl Drost.
Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, she took great pride in her flowers and her gardens, she enjoyed many crafts, word search books, and feeding and watching the finches.
A visitation will be held on Saturday November 17, 2012 from 1:00-5:00pm at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Rd. Funeral Services will be held at 12:30pm on Monday November 19, 2012 at Egelhof-Siegert and Casper Funeral Home, 390 North Grandview Avenue, Dubuque, IA., The family will meet friends from 10:30am-12:30pm Monday at the funeral home, and burial will follow services at Linwood Cemetery in Dubuque.
