Donald Dodd

Donald "Donnie" Dodd, 77, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2011 at St. John's Hospital. Donnie was born June 8, 1934 in Chatham, the son of James and Viola Bearden Dodd. He married Peggy Reside on January 19, 1958 in Ashland. Donnie graduated from Feitshans High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a driver for Meadow Gold and later became a member of Carpenter's Local 16. He was a proud father and grandfather and enjoyed cooking, playing cards, and watching wrestling. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Peggy of Springfield; three sons, John (wife, Kelly) Dodd of Chatham; Tom (wife, Susan) Dodd and Joe (companion, Jessica Dalheim) Dodd, both of Springfield; six grandchildren, Sarah (husband, Adam) Goone, Katie (husband, David) Swartz, Catherine Dodd, Adam Dodd, Amanda Dodd and Valerie Dodd; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 until the time of the funeral ceremony at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 14, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Graveside Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Pleasant Plains Cemetery with military honors.
