She was born Dec. 20, 1939 in Cornland, IL, the daughter of Lewis and June (Shanle) Ramthun. Carol married Richard B. Scott August 16, 1968, in Cornland and he preceded her in death Feb. 8, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her step-son, William Lee Scott in 1990, her parents, and three sisters: Betty Alderson, Emmalou Ramthun and Nancy Ramthun.
Carol retired from Capital City Paper where she served as a bookkeeper for many years. She was a member of Elm Street Christian Church in Springfield. Carol was an avid golfer, well known at Bunn, Pasfield and Bergen parks. She volunteered for over 30 years at the LPGA tournament at the Rail Golf Course and was named Volunteer of the year in 1992. She was also an accomplished bowler, and chaired the Irene Kearny Tournament at King Pin Lanes. Carol enjoyed a good card game with friends and family especially pinochle. She was a devoted St. Louis Cardinal Fan.
She is survived by her grandchildren: Ryan (Wendy) Scott of Sherman, IL, Brett Scott of Chatham, IL, Linza (Brad) Brachear of Aviston, IL, and Cara (John) Bell of Cantrall, IL, her great grandchildren; Avery, Lillie and Kennedy Scott, Baylor and Landry Brachear, and Cora and Ellen Bell. She is also survived by her brother, LeRoy (Bev) Ramthun of Cornland, IL, and several nieces and nephews; Bruce (Chris) Alderson of Springfield, Linda Alderson of Chatham, David (Lisa) Ramthun of California, Jeff (Shelia) Ramthun of Utah, great nieces and nephews; Paige Ramthun, Daniel Ramthun, and Rachel Alderson, and her daughter-in-law, Gayle (roger) Bell of Sherman, IL.
Visitation and Service: The family of Carol Scott will receive friends Friday, Aug. 18, 2017 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home 505 E. Allen, Springfield, IL from 10:00 am until time of her funeral service there at 11:00 am. Pastor Seth Schnautz will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield.
