Carl C. Dahlquist, passed from this life on November 13, 2012 in Springfield.
He was born September 30, 1947 in Sterling, IL the son of Neil and Louise Aldrich Dahlquist. His father, a brother Gene, and his first wife of 29 years, Shirley preceded him in death.
As a graduate of Lincoln Christian University he ministered 45 years: Inner city ministry in East Chicago, IN (8 years), Camp Manager of Rock River Christian Camp in Polo, IL (18 years), Camp Manager of Camp Como, Como, CO (11 years) and Camp Manager of Lake Springfield Christian Assembly (2005 to present).
His legacy lives on in the lives of his family and thousands of youth influenced by his love of God, life of service, intentional generosity, and choice of joy in the midst of challenges.
He is survived by his wife Etta "Sunny", his daughter Angela (Les) Britt of Patoka, IL his son Jeff (Ali) Dahlquist of Centralia, IL and his daughter Valisha (Matt) Zimmer of Jacksonville, IL. He is also survived by his mother, Louise Dahlquist of Sterling, IL and sisters Diana Brewster of Colorado Springs, CO, and Shirley Scudder of Rock Falls, IL. His 10 grandchildren were a source of immense joy in Carl's life: Faith, Madison, Makayla, Naomi, Parker, Austin, Levi, Jacob, Katrina, and Landon.
Carl served as Director of the Chicago District Evangelizing Association, received the Restoration Award in 1996 from Lincoln Christian University and in 2010 the Wade Matthews Award for Christian Camp Excellence. He also served the Christian Camp and Conference Association and the Christian Camp Leaders Conference. Carl served as elder and leader at Lakeside Christian Church and various boards of ministry over the years. He always said his goal in life was to be faithful in service to Jesus Christ until the end of this life and God granted him that desire.
Visitation: Friday, November 16, 2012 from 4-7 pm at Lakeside Christian Church 225 Toronto Rd. Springfield, IL
Celebration of Life Service: Saturday November 17, 2012 at 3 pm at Lakeside Christian Church with Rev. John Morrissette officiating.
A private graveside service will be Saturday morning at the Phillips Cemetery, Streator, IL
