She was born on March 28, 1957, in Springfield, Illinois, to her loving parents, Noel (Randy) & Nellie C. Adkins Miller. She is survived by her father, Randy Miller of Pawnee; brother, Richard A. “Tony” Miller of Springfield; sister, Pamela A. Newbanks (partner, Don Enos) of Atlanta, IL; nieces, Stephanie M. Hudson (husband, Mike Hudson) of Rochester, Casey E. Newbanks (fiancé, Justin Urban) of Springfield, and nephew, Addam C. Miller of Chatham.
Betty was known for her caring personality and kind heart. She had a natural ability to want to help those around her. She was a Registered Nurse and dedicated her life to caring for other people. Her warm and inviting nature made her a cherished member of both her family and church, which she loved so much.
In her youth and throughout her career, Betty was an active member of the Illinois medical community. She worked as a nurse at Sarah Bush Hospital, Doctor’s Hospital, and Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. Betty retired from Memorial Medical Center in 2017. She dedicated her time to teaching health to the public, setting up youth medical education events, and was a leader to many. Her life's passion was always work & nursing. Her compassionate nature and genuine desire to make a difference touched the hearts of many.
Throughout Betty's life, she was dedicated to her family and her church. She took great joy in being with people she loved and supporting them in all their endeavors. She loved to travel, make jewelry, watch great musicals and bad TV, and eat delicious foods. She was an avid reader and found solace in the pages of a good book. She adored spending time with her nieces, nephew, and pets and took every opportunity to spoil them all. She attended church every Sunday that she was able and devotedly supported her ministry, Southern View Chapel. There she connected with so many by leading bible study and attending prayer groups.
Betty will be forever remembered and deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her generous spirit, unwavering love, and kind personality will continue to be an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 18, 2023, at Butler Funeral Home-Chatham, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, IL 62629 with Dr. Gary E. Gilley officiating.
Betty will be laid to rest at the Chatham Memorial Cemetery, alongside her mother, who preceded her in death.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Southern View Chapel or Animal Protective League in Betty's memory. This will enable her kindness and compassion to live on, benefiting those in need, just as she would have wanted.
