Betty was born on February 8, 1938, in Plain, WI, the daughter of Joseph and Marian Laubmeier Bauer.
Betty was a graduate of St. Luke’s in Plain, WI. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin in Beloit, WI and spent many years working as a teacher. Betty was a very active member in her church community at St. Joseph the Worker in Chatham. She enjoyed reading, knitting, and praying.
She was preceded in death by her parents; seven sisters, Mary, Donna, Luella, Marlene, Delores, Gerri, and Josephine; and daughter-in-law, Lynn Meister.
She is survived by her husband, Harlan Meister of Chatham; one son, Joseph Meister of Petersburg and his children, Joseph (Naomi) Meister, Sarah Meister, and step-daughter, Becky (Jeff) Willard; daughter, Mary Beth (Robert) Myers of Chatham and their children, Zachary (Laura) Myers and Noah Myers; daughter, Harlene Ann (John) Dinges of Woodbridge, VA and their daughter, Grace Dinges; five great-grandchildren, Audrey, Brooke, Olivia and Harley Meister, and Theo Myers; six step great-grandchildren, Emma, Trystan, Carter, and Asher Willard, Megan Morey and Kevin Brown; and one sister, Evelyn (Gerry) Watson of Dodgeville, WI.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Memorial Gathering and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at St. Joseph the Worker, 700 E. Spruce St., Chatham. A Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Joseph Molloy and Rev. John Nolan, celebrants. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
