She was born April 13, 1925, the daughter of Wilbert and Freda Dorsett.She married Robert Charles Barrington Oct. 3, 1947 and he preceded her in death. She graduated from High School in Speedway, IN in 1943. She later moved to Springfield and enjoyed a long lasting career at Memorial Medical Center and the Credit Union.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan E. Daily with husband, Jeff; son, Glen E. Barrington with wife, Susan. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Greg Barrrington, Jessica Pitchford and husband, Bart, Haley Neibergall and husband Gabe and Courtney Wick and husband, Ian. She has one great grandchild Tennesee Pitchford who brought her much joy in her later life.
Barbara loved traveling with her family and friends. She also loved good food, bridge and bowling. Barbara was an exceptionally intelligant lady, and was often ahead of her time. At the age of sixty she became invilved in an investment club and educated her grandchildren on how to type and utilize the internet. She even taught them how to drive when the task became to frightening for their parents.
Mostly, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Barbara had a marvelous sense of humor and was making her family laugh right up to the vary end. She will be remembered for her goodness and strength, and for her love and support of all whom she cherished both near and far. Barbara was a woman who was adored by all who had the privilege to know her. A portion of her charm will remain in the hearts of her friends and family. She will be forever loved and deeply missed.
Friends may call Friday Jan. 8, 2010 at Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel from 10:30 AM until the time of memorial services there at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
