Arnold Eugene "Gene" Guy
CRYSTAL CITY, MO - Arnold Eugene "Gene" Guy, 66, of Crystal City, Missouri passed away to his heavenly home at Odin Health Care in Odin, Illinois on Thursday, April 26, 2013, at 9:30 a.m.
Gene was born in Springfield, Illinois to Arnold and Marie Guy; they preceded him in death. He married Brenda Vaughn on December 3, 1970.
Gene proudly served his country in the United States Army where he served on the front-lines in the Vietnam War and then he served in Germany from 1967 to 1969. Upon returning home he worked for C&IM railroad for 9 years. He then became a Baptist minister in 1986 and preached for 30 years. His love was preaching and teaching the word of God. He ends his Preaching at Cross Roads Baptist Church in Pevely, Mo. He was a big St. Louis Cardinals fan and Loved to spend time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Guy of Crystal City, Mo.; one son, Danny Guy and wife, Brandy, of Centralia, Ill.; his granddaughter, Peyton JoLee Guy of Centralia, Ill., whom he loved very much; one sister, Nora Barber and husband, Allan of Springfield, Ill.; his nephew, Josh Barber and wife, Jackie Barber; two great-nephews, Nolan & Glavin; a great-niece, Mabry Barber of Highland, Ill.; niece, Christy Barber of Georgia; and three great-nephews and three great-nieces. His brother-in-law, Dale Edward Vaughn, preceded him in death in 2003. Gene was greatly loved by his family.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road, Springfield with Rev. Bob Driggers officiating. The family will meet friends from 12:00 p.m. until the service time at the funeral home on Wednesday. Private burial will take place at a later date.
