She was born January 15, 1939 in Creal Springs, IL the daughter of Blanchard and Melvina (Laney) Anderson. After high school graduation, Allegra graduated from the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Springfield, the class of 1959 where she earned her Registered Nurse Certification.
She married Harold Curry in Springfield, October 23, 1959 and they were blessed with three sons; Steven Curry of Rochester, IL, David (wife Chris) Curry and Jamey Curry both of Springfield. Also surviving is her extend family including, her granddaughter, Kelsie of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, her husband Harold, three sisters, Blanche Brush, Melba Bundren and Delene Marchbanks, as well as two brothers, Ralph Anderson and Cecil Anderson all preceded her in death.
Allegra served in various capacities within the medical community including the director of nursing at Doctor’s Hospital in Springfield before returning to Memorial Medical Center where she retired in 1998 from the office of medical records.
During her schooling and career, Allegra became friends with so many classmates and associates. She found great joy in those relationships and attending the many reunions throughout the years. She was an artist, known for her talents with acrylic paints. She was a student of Bob Ross.
A graveside service will be held at 10 am Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at the Pleasant Plains Cemetery, Pleasant Plains, IL with Chaplain Ezra Penermon officiating.
Her family is grateful for the care and compassion provided by Memorial Home Health Hospice Team. In her honor, in lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Memorial Home Health Hospice 644 N. 2nd St. Springfield, IL 62702.
