1924-2023
Jerry Steinman passed away on March 25, 2023 at the age of 99. He lived a long, full life and left a lasting legacy of love. “Lucky Jerry,” as he often referred to himself, grew up in the Bronx, the son of immigrant parents.
Jerry graduated from Stuyvesant High School at age 16, and received his BA at Ohio State University. He served in the Army during World War II in France and Great Britain. After the war, he received a Masters in History from Columbia University.
Jerry possessed an irrepressible spirit and entrepreneurial drive. After several jobs working for others, he started a small public relations business in the 1960s. But when he lost his largest account, he pivoted to found Beer Marketer’s INSIGHTS, which quickly became the leading trade publication for the US brewing industry. That business continues to thrive today, now in its 3rd generation.
He was the beloved and loving husband of Irene Dynenson Steinman (who passed away in 2012), father and father-in-law of Benj & Robin Steinman, Glen Steinman & Sabrina Fung, and grandfather of David, Talia & Jason Steinman.
His active mind, intelligence, wit, playfulness and warmth will be much missed. He was an exceptionally loving, kind and generous man.
