Sonja Theresa Griffith, 82, of Spring Hill, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones in the hospital on October 5. Sonja Theresa Griffith was born in Panama Canal Zone on November 23, 1941, and is the fourth of eight children born to her parents, William Alfonso Griffith and Gwendolyn Estelle Bennett Griffith.
Sonja migrated to Queens, New York, from the Republic of Panama in 1978 to build a brighter future for her and her son Michael. While in New York, she worked at the World Trade Center as a computer operator for Merrill Lynch before retiring and relocating to Florida, where she realized her dream of purchasing and owning her own home despite her humble beginnings.
Sonja touched many lives as she often stepped in to provide in-home care for the children of her nieces and nephews, giving them peace of mind while at work. Sonja loved cooking, and her famous codfish fritters were a treat that family and friends always looked forward to. We will miss her smile and gentle spirit, but she will forever live in our hearts.
Sonja was preceded by her mother, father, and brothers, Alfred and Rolando. She is survived by Michael Griffith (son), Tricia Cox Griffith (daughter-in-law), Micah Griffith (granddaughter), Douglas, Ricardo, and Carlos Griffith (brothers), Verna Keene and Leticia Agard (sisters), and a host of nieces, nephews, and grand and great-grandnieces and nephews.
Memorial Services In Loving Memory of Sonja Theresa Griffith will be Saturday, November 2nd, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. located at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 14236 County Line Rd, Hudson, FL 34667
Reception to follow at the residence at 6228 Gainsboro Ave., Spring Hill, FL 34609.
