Shirley Loretta (Summers) Leger, 91, of Brooksville, Florida, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023, after a short illness surrounded by her children.
She was born in Staten Island, New York on July 11, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Summers and Bessie (McCarthy) Summers.
She was a loving daughter, mother, and grandmother with a passion for her gardens of beautiful plants and flowers, arts & crafts, doll collecting, and her friends and neighbors at Cloverleaf Farms.
She spent most of her life in Enfield, CT before retiring to Florida. Her professional career was as an Administrative Secretary for Shearson Lehman. She was a member of the Women’s Club at Cloverleaf Farms.
She graduated High School from Gilboa-Conesville in Gilboa, New York, and from Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
Preceded in death by her ex-husband Raymond Leger, and siblings Lorraine Moody, Gilbert Summers, Leona Marie Summers, Jeanette Stuhl, and Margie Baer.
She is survived by her children Rachael (Leger) Boland (Jerry Imhoff), and Michael Leger (Laura), grandchildren Raymond Lyons, Sean Lyons (Jennifer), Jennifer (Boland) Williams (Ricky), Andrea (Leger) Shorette (J. J.), Katelyn (Leger) Dubuque (Michael), 9 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 – 4:00 pm on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Turner Funeral Home in Spring Hill, Florida.
