On March 20, 1934, Sheila Carabai was born to Juan and Camilla Carabai of Erin, Trinidad and Tobago, the last of nine children. Sheila grew up in Erin where she lived until she was married to Oliver L Noel in 1951 and moved to Guayaguayare where they made their first home. Here she had her first four children, Patricia, Ronald, Richard, and Genevieve. In 1958, she and Oliver built their second home in Gasparillo, Trinidad where they had four more children Trevor, Rickardo, Roberto and Raymond. With eight kids, Sheila stayed very busy as a homemaker and loving mother.
In the second chapter of her life, Sheila and Oliver immigrated to the United States over a three-year period, initially living in Brooklyn, New York from 1969 to 1973. Over this five-year period, the family lived in four different homes. Sheila worked at Abraham & Straus (A&S), department store as a salesclerk in the women's department. In 1973 the family moved to Hempstead Long Island, NY. Sheila continued to work at A&S department store as a salesclerk. In 1978 the family moved to Dale City in Prince William County, Virginia where Sheila began working for Garfinckel’s department store as a salesclerk. In 1993 Sheila and Oliver moved to Spring Hill, Florida where Sheila retired and lived until her passing.
Sheila is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years of marriage, Oliver Leonard Noel and her oldest daughter Patricia Angela Mohammad, grandson John Oliver Evelyn and son-in-law John Evelyn. Sheila was the last of the Carabai family and is preceded in death by her parents Juan and Camilla Carabai and her 8 sisters and brothers; Ivy Carrington, Bernadine “Quinnin” Cardines , Lil Augustin Andrews, Gladys Carabai, Ello Jacob, Francis Carabai, Felix Carabai, Cryil Carabai.
She I survived by son Ronald (Wanda) Noel, son Richard (Miriam) Noel, daughter Genevieve (John, deceased) Evelyn, son Trevor Oliver David (Brenda) Noel, son Rickardo Noel, son Roberto (Veronica) Noel, son Raymond (Crisaundra, aka Crissy) Noel; son-in-law Anthony Mohammed; 24 grandchildren: Nichelle (Brian) Denny, Ian (Penny) Ramcheran, Veronique Dieng, Marc Mohammed, Erik (Candace) Noel, Chanelle (Lucas) Bergman, Noel Evelyn, Chris Noel, Emil Noel, Vanessa (Patrick, deceased) McNeese, Gabrielle (Wayne) Johnson, Marissa Mohammed, Maria Mohammed, Oliver A. (Evoni) Noel, Nick Noel, Onri Noel, Trevor L. Noel, David A. Noel, Ryan (Theresa) Noel, Raquel Noel, Raymond Noel, Jr., Reese Noel, and Rickardo Noel, Jr.; 28 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.
A visitation for Sheila will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Turner Funeral Homes, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL 34609. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 5030 Mariner Blvd, Spring Hill, FL 34609. A committal service will occur Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Florida Hills Memorial Gardens, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL 34609.
