She was born on February 2, 1934 in Sayville, NY to the late George and Antionette West. She found the love of her life, Lawrence Nelson, who she wed on January 29, 1956. That union was blessed by a bounty of children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Sandra is survived by her daughter, Debra Butler; sons, Daniel Nelson (Donna); Lawrence Nelson; Douglas Nelson (Karen); as well as several grandchildren; Rebecca Furnare (Patrick), Daniel Nelson (Sara), Jason Nelson, Kyle, Patience, Caleb, Noah, and Luke Nelson, Karissa Rulison-Krecic (Taylor), Josh and Joelle Butler, Thomas and David Nelson; great grandchildren; Emily and Grace Furnare, Gunner Nelson, Kayley and Kenzie Nelson, Jack Krecic, Tyler and Jayden Nelson, Katelyn Nelson, Scarlett and Tiffany Nelson, and her dog, Daisy. All of these survivors celebrate her life.
Sandra work as a telephone operator for New York Bell where she met her husband. She lived on a dairy farm and milked all 96 cows. In the 1980’s Sandra and Larry had a limousine cattle ranch where they bred, raised and sold cattle. She enjoyed birds, especially watching the pigeons that she and her husband raised and raced since the mid 50’s.
Sandra was creative by nature making many crafts for the people she loved. This included beautiful, detailed Christmas stockings and crocheted blankets. These things are still cherished by those who love her. She also had a passion for puzzles and music. Sandra loved playing her piano and would even break out the accordion to play for family on special occasions.
To honor and celebrate Sandra, there will be a visitation for family and friends on Sunday October 29, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Turner Funeral Home, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL. Service to immediately follow.
