Pat was born May 19, 1939 in Lisbon, ND. Pat and her 2 siblings were born to Eda M. Christman (deceased) and she and her 3 children moved to Niles, MI where they were blessed to find an adopted Dad in Chester Curtis (deceased). Pat is survived by her two siblings Margaret Henn (Robert) of Lebanon, OH and Charles Curtis (Beverly) of Penney Farm, FL.
Pat later married Clyde “Bud” Zehrung on June 28, 1958. They were married for 27 years and divorced and she is survived by him. They had 3 loving children who all survive: Sherry Hudson of Niles, MI, Scott Zehrung (Pam) of Edwardsburg, MI and Stacy Schnepf (Tom whom she called "PT") of Spring Hill, FL where she resided.
She was very blessed with a large family having 12 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren as well as many Nieces and Nephews in her life who loved her.
She retired from Simplicity Pattern as a Human Resource assistant after 36 years and was involved in Simplicity Professional Womens' Association for years. She made many lifelong friends there that will miss her. She was very active in her Niles High School class reunion committee and continued to enjoy fellowship with her fellow graduates until she moved. She was a member of Summit Church in Niles, MI for over 20 years and was involved in their Upward Soccer program where she handled concessions.
She lived her last 3 years with her youngest Daughter and husband Tom and enjoyed the beautiful FL sunshine. She stayed busy by working once a week at the Life Church food pantry where she was a member and attended services regularly, and helped by sorting eggs and meat to help feed those in her community. She enjoyed attending water aerobics at the local YMCA, and floating in her pool where she enjoyed the butterfly garden in her backyard.
She was the most excellent of cooks and fed her family and friends with love, as well as the baking of her "yummies". She was an avid reader and loved to read by the pool. Her favorite thing to do was make her homemade quilts. She made quilts with her Sister-In-Law Bev and donated them to a local childrens home in FL when she stayed seasonally before moving permanently to Spring Hill. She was able to grace all of her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren with her homemade quilts so they could wrap themselves up in her love.
She was a Mom for all who needed her. She had so many additional honorary Sons, Daughters, Nieces, Nephews and Grandchildren that they were too innumerable to count. She touched lives and made everyone feel loved and that they mattered. She was known to most by "Grandma Pat" or "Aunt Pat" or "Mama Pat".
Pat Curtis Zehrung lived a good life because she was good. She will be dearly missed but will forever live in our memories and our hearts.
She was loved because she loved. She lived her Faith.
A celebration of her life will be held in Michigan at a later time and will be announced.
