Estella Amanda Lorna Garner

Estella Amanda Lorna Garner was born November 19, 1924 to Wilhelm and Sophia Peters Hornbostel at Linn Kansas. Estella became a child of God by Baptism at St, John’s Lutheran Church. Palmer, Kansas on November 23 1924 by Reverend J.B. Keller. She was confirmed at St. John’s on April 10, 1938 by Reverend Wm R. Miessler. Her grandfather Hornbostel was a founder and charter member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She attended St. John’s Parochial school for grades 3-8 and Sherman Township Consolidated School for grades 1 & 2 Estella was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and five sisters. four nieces, four nephews, and three sister-in-laws and five brother-in-laws.

She is survived by nineteen nieces and nephews, many more great nieces and nephews.

On September 25, 1959 Estella was married to Fred T. Garner at Emmaus Lutheran Church, Denver Colorado. Who also preceded her on February 27, 1992.

Estella spent her youth helping on the farm of her parents near Palmer Kansas. In 1949 she moved to Denver, Colorado where her main employment was with Civil Service and retired after 22 years. At that time, Estella and Fred retired from the cold climate to enjoy the warm Florida climate in the Spring Hill area 1980.

They became charter members of Forest Oaks Lutheran Church of Spring Hill, Florida. Estella was active within many aspects (ministries) of her church throughout the years at Forest Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Handbell Choir, the Mixed Adult Choir, Women’s Guild for 26 years and LWML. She also volunteered in the church office.

Due to health reasons, she moved to the assisted living facility of Atria Evergreen Woods in Spring Hill Florida. She was always able to keep up with handbells, Choir and attend church. Throughout her life she enjoyed music and reading,

After retirement and Fred’s passing, she enjoyed travelling worldwide and in the United States, Canada and Europe. Visiting 13 countries and 33 states. She always made time to visit her many nieces and nephews on her travels.

A visitation for Estella will be held Friday, November 17, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Forest Oaks Lutheran Church, 8555 Forest Oaks Blvd, Spring Hill, FL 34606. A funeral service will occur Friday, November 17, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 8555 Forest Oaks Blvd, Spring Hill, FL 34606. A committal service will occur Friday, November 17, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at 9847 - Florida Hills Memorial Gardens, 14360 Spring Hill Dr., Spring Hill, FL 34609.
