It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Shirley Ann Reaves. She was 81 years old and passed away on March 14th, 2023, in Spokane, Washington. Shirley was born in Redding, California, on April 20th, 1941, to loving parents who have preceded her in death.
Shirley was a graduate of Shasta High School, and after spending three years in the Marines she went on to earn her nursing degree at Shasta College. , She worked as a labor and delivery nurse in Shasta County before relocating to Kaiser in Sacramento, California, until her retirement. Shirley had a passion for helping others and was deeply respected by her colleagues and patients.
Shirley married Jack Bryant in 1962 and although their marriage ended in divorce, they remained close friends until her passing. Together, they had four daughters: Sherry and Frank Meier, Lisa and Brian Dunbar, Wendy and Rick Wolfe, and Cindy and Shane Crinch. She was a devoted mother who always put her family first and loved spending time with her 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Shirley had a creative side as well. She enjoyed horseback riding in her younger years and later developed a talent for crafting. She was a skilled seamstress who enjoyed making beautiful blankets for her family. She was also an accomplished painter who created intricate and delicate ceramic figurines, each one unique and beautifully crafted.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and her husband Richard Reaves. The family would like to express their gratitude to Horizon Hospice of Spokane for their exceptional care, kindness, and support during Shirley's final days. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date, where she will be laid to rest with the rest of her family at Lawncrest Memorial Park in Redding, California.
Shirley will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her memory will live on forever in our hearts.
