Shari Ann Miller, 52, of Spokane, Washington passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 after an 18 yearlong battle with breast cancer. Shari was a selfless, loving and deeply compassionate daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend to many and will be profoundly missed.
Shari was born in Pullman, Washington on July 16, 1969 to John and Mary Ann Schmidt. She and her family moved to Spokane several years later, where she was raised and very involved in Spokane First Church of the Nazarene. She graduated from Northwest Nazarene College in 1995 with a degree in Social Work. Shari then went on to work for Catholic Charities in Spokane for several years where she assisted at risk women and children. She later worked for the Salvation Army as a housing specialist before retiring to focus on her fight with cancer.
Shari married Bill Miller on September 26, 1992 and the couple had a daughter and son together, both of whom Shari homeschooled until they started high school.
Shari loved Jesus above everything else and attended Spokane First Church of the Nazarene most of her life. She had a servant’s heart and deeply loved helping people, whether that was through her job as a social worker, volunteering in the community or helping her church. Shari’s family and friends will always remember her bright smile, bubbly laughter, unending kindness and sweet spirit.
Shari is survived by her husband Bill, daughter Emily, son Daniel, brothers Steve and Gary, as well as numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by her father, mother, and niece Shannon Thomas Covey.
A viewing will be held Saturday, October 23, at Ball & Dodd Funeral home from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM, and concluding with a reception.
Her family would like to thank Cancer Care Northwest, Horizon Hospice of Spokane, as well as their friends and church family for all of the love, support and comfort they have given throughout the course of her treatment and passing.
